After working in litigation for many years, both as an assistant prosecutor and as a civil litigator, I learned that “winning” a dispute rarely restores the client as a whole. Often, they are still bitter because the underlying conflict is still not resolved. The client may still be bitter about the quarrel she had with her business partner or ex-spouse, for example. In these situations, a little compassion can go a long way. Having local professionals to refer your clients to (such as therapists or accountants) will help you solve their problems more completely. Notes are also at the heart of the review process – it`s even scientifically proven that notes can help you remember things! So, don`t skimp on those, and you`ll thank yourself later.
