So it seems that the general consensus is a sweet lip spotted with gold. I still don`t know why the 2 darkest spots were on the body. Yes, everyone is just with the other three, but I already know the black ass and red throat – I`ve already caught them. The size of the red throat was about 31 cm (the legal size is 28 cm). I must say I was surprised at the amount of red throat we caught in Perth. Very good food. However, I have never caught a sweet lip spotted with gold. Goldspotted Sweetlips are not normally used commercially and the taste of the meat is said to be average at best. Fishfrenzyluke- I understand your concern.
The way you brag that you usually fish is the way I usually fish or control from my boat. In this case, I identified her the day I hastily identified her as a queen (blue morwong) by the markings on her head. We sized it accordingly (it was legal for a queen), bled it and kept it.
